A spoiler. Our rep sent us a pair to test, now I reach for them for important detail cutting. The professional quality can be felt in the heft, the feel and the way they cut. Cut like butter. Feel solid and pleasing to the hand. Heirloom quality, once you use them you will be spoiled for anything else.

Kai's great all around small scissors for trimming and clipping. This is the same little 5" scissors as our best selling curved version - but without the curve because sometimes I want a straight clip. I write the date on the handle with a sharpie, and have them scattered around the studio, keep one pair on a ribbon around my neck, one at the serger and another at the ironing board. Perfect for nipping threads, ideal for close trimming an enclosed seam, accurate for clipping into a corner. Super sharp---I just can't say enough good things about such a simple little too. The Kai people took their basic little 5 inch scissor and put a slight curve into it, and, voila, a brilliant improvement. 5 stars!!!

It is the little things that can make a big difference. This has become one of my favorite marking tools. It makes a FINE line that shows on almost all fabrics and tends to brush off easily. Clover makes the very finest sewing products, this is a staple in my studio which I carry with me to class. Thanks to Sandy Globius of Fabric of Vision in Ashland for turning me on to this cool little tool.

A brand new and very cool item straight from ready to wear. Flexible (yet soft) plastic wire, designed to insert into a seam or channel so it can be bent or shaped. How to use? In a collar, front edge, pocket, hem or.....(you fill in the blank). I bought a little cotton vest that has wire in the front edge and collar and have loved it.

I am addicted to these pins. Simply the best: thin, sharp, glass heads, and long, 1 3/8", --- a pleasure to use. Once you use them, you'll never go back to run of the mill pins again.

The Heroine jeans are fitted to the waist with a straight, generous leg and a healthy turn up. This is a rendition of the classic Levi-type jean that has been adapted for women.
This is a pattern that we would advise making a toile/muslin first, firstly to adjust the fit if needed but secondly to familiarise with the pattern instructions. We have not used a traditional run and fell jeans seam, we have chosen instead to topstitch the seam, which is easier to achieve on a domestic machine. We have found that a heavy duty thread rather than a topstitch thread gives a more authentic look to the topstitching and is easier to use. You may find that you get a better stitch using a matching standard 'sew all' thread in the bobbin.
All seam allowances are 1.5cm unless otherwise stated.
Skill level - experienced.
We recommend pre washing your denim before sewing. Putting a large piece of medium-heavy weight denim into the washing machine can sometimes lead to white creases in the denim, this is because it is a stiff fabric so it doesn’t have room to move around. We recommend doing the following to help this not to happen:
When you have made the jeans we would recommend washing them inside out.
M&M Suggested Fabrics:
Fabric suggestions - 8 - 12.5oz non stretch denim (up to 14oz with a heavy duty machine.)
Marcy says, this classic jean could work in other fabrics in a denim weight - and I would also use a stretch denim, adapting the fit for a slightly snugger fit as denims and cottons with lycra tend to stretch a bit when worn.

The Eve Trouser is cropped, with a slightly tapered leg and optional turn ups. It's an easy garment to make, fitting neatly at the waist and over the hips with a simple side zip and two back pockets. Choose to make pleats or darts into the waist seam.
All seam allowances are 1.5cm unless otherwise stated.
Skill level - intermediate.
M&M Suggested Fabrics:
The Eve Trousers are ideally suited to a mid-heavyweight cotton canvas, as this keeps the structured shape. Options would be corduroy, light-medium weight woollens and 7 - 12oz denim. You can use lighter weight cloths like linen and potentially a Tencel/linen but this will give you a softer silhouette.
Also corduroy, cotton sateen, stretch cottons, ponte knits.
Marcy says, this classic style could also work in softer fabrics too, ideal for linen, would be good in ponte knits and corduroy or velveteen. I'd use a fly front zipper or center back zipper instead of the side zipper. Why? Makes final fitting easier to have the zipper installed at center front or back and then fine tune the fit at the side seams.

Gentle drawstring trouser with side pockets and a false fly, cut to sit on the waist. Features 3 versions – cropped & tapered trouser, wide straight trouser or shorts.
All seam allowances are 1.5cm unless otherwise stated.
Skill level - beginner.
M&M Suggested Fabrics:
Fabric suggestions - linen, linen blends, tencel, tencel/linen, 3-5oz denim, cotton chambray, indian handweaves, very fine wool or corduroy.
Also: rayon crepe, rayon challis, jersey knits, Liberty cottons, silk charmeuse
Marcy says, this classic style could become a go-to favorite for casual pants - loungewear, yoga, soft floaty little summer cropped pants. I'd substitute elastic for the drawstring, make a crushed velvet version for the holidays, silk charmeuse for spring, jersey as a year round basic.

Marcy says, this classic style can be interpreted as a cozy robe, or smoking jacket, or coat. Make it cozy for cool weather and floaty and light for summer.

The Ottoline is a boxy workwear jacket with cuff and side seam splits and inside pocket. A cool little hipster version of a jean jacket for all seasons, to dress up or kick back.
Skill level; Experienced, but not doing the slits on the hip or sleeves would make it a more intermediate level.

Overcoat meets duster. An oversized coat for striding through town and country with purpose. Make either lined or unlined. The September works for a variety of seasons, in oilskin or wool it can be a proper winter coat, or in linen it feels like a casual throw on.
This is a multi-size paper pattern, sizes 6-18, seam allowances included.
M&M suggested fabrics – Dry oilskin, oilskin, mid – heavyweight linens, 7 – 12oz denim, wool corduroy, cotton twills or canvas. A heavier weight cloth will result in a more structured coat.
Marcy says, this classic style can be interpreted in sturdy or lighter weight fabrics for all seasons: linen, cotton, denim, wool, cashmere, stable knits, lightweight upholstery fabric. Makes a good 'blank canvas' design for arty interpretations!
